What are “lost parts”

A “lost part” is a concept rooted in Gestalt therapy that refers to aspects of the self that a person has disowned, suppressed, or stopped expressing because they didn’t feel safe, accepted, or supported.

These parts can include emotions, traits, or responses that are still present but not easily accessed.

During the retreat, we’ll hold a “Lost Parts Dance Party” where each guest identifies a lost part that might help them reach their goal and expresses this trait to a hilarious extreme. During this dance party, we’ll play all your favourites from the 70s and 80s. Feel free to wear a costume but please avoid props that could make a mess!

Examples of “lost parts” can include: The Opportunist, The Over-sharer, The Mystery Man/Woman, The Perfectionist, The Crazy Adventure Seeker, The Unrelenting Flirt, The Know-It-All, The Hypersensitive Snowflake, The Bossy Jerk, The Lazy Bum, The Heartless Monster, The Bragger, The Micromanager, The Egomaniac, etc.
